Summer Vacation
Summer vacation is the best time of the year. It is my personal favorite time of the year as it is for most high school kids. Summer for a large amount of people is a time to relax and have fun. It is a time to make some money and to have a good time at the same time. Some people however become busier in the summer with sports and summer school but that is a very small amount of people. For me, summer is the time to do whatever I want whenever I want and take as much freedom as I can.
In the summer time I work as a lifeguard at Beachcomber. Last year I was only a sub lifeguard but this year I have a full time job. I love working at beachcomber because I large amount of my good friends work there. I actually have fun while I am at work which is great because my mom always said, “the best job is the one you can enjoy”. This year Beachcomber is under new ownership which is good and bad at the same time. Although the lifeguards will not get as long of breaks we will make a lot more money. Another change to Beachcomber is that we will work 8 hours a day which is a lot more than last year, which means more money but less free time to do outside of work. Hopefully Beachcomber will be as enjoyable as last year, I will have to see.
Hanging out with friends is obviously the best time of summer. Summer is the time to party and relax as much as you can. Summer is the resting period to catch up time for fun and sleep from the school year, which is why they call it break. I look at summer as a giant celebration of successfully completing the school year before in the summer I try and spend as much time away from the house as I can, unless I am having friends over. It is not to get away from my parents; I just do this because I see my parents so much during the school year.
A great part about this awesome time in the year is hanging out by the pool with friends. I love pool parties and I spend about 90 percent of my time in the summer by a pool. Since the best thing is going to the beach in the summer I settle for relaxing by the pool which is why I work at one. Although I am a swimmer and I am in an indoor pool all year long, there is something about outdoor pools in the summer that makes them so much more enjoyable.
In conclusion summer is obviously my favorite time of the year for many reasons. Without this amazing season I believe that I would actually be a less happy person. There would be nothing to look forward to for the end of the school year if there was no summer break. The freedom and fun that summer has is just amazing. I am counting down the days this year for summer because I am so excited.
